Visibility score explained

How BrandAxis calculates the headline Visibility score, what it measures, and how to read changes over time.

The Visibility score is the headline metric in BrandAxis — a 0–100 number that tells you how often your brand shows up across your tracked prompts and models.

How it’s calculated

For every (prompt × model) cycle, we record whether your brand was mentioned in the response. The Visibility score is the weighted percentage of cycles where you appeared, smoothed over a rolling 7-day window.

A score of 100 means your brand appears in every tracked AI response. 0 means you appear in none. Most healthy brands land somewhere between 20 and 70 — the exact number depends heavily on the prompts you’ve chosen.

What changes the score

  • New prompts being added — fresh prompts can drop the score short-term until they stabilise
  • Model behaviour shifts — when ChatGPT or Perplexity updates their model, your score can swing within a day
  • Source domains changing — if a site that frequently cites you stops, expect a dip

Reading change indicators

Each metric card shows an arrow with a percentage — that’s the change over the previous 7 days. Green = up, red = down, grey = no change.
